It is so funny to see someone's confused reaction from their facial expressions when you tell them that the type of dog you have is a Puggle.
Normally, the response is "a what?" and then I try to explain it to them. Still after explaining that it is is a mix between a Beagle and a Pug, they still can't picture it. I
think that is one reason why I love them so much! They are such unique little characters. That must also be the reason why celebrities are so interested in owning
them.
Another question that I often get through my emails is where can I find a good Puggle breeder. Since I am in Illinois, and I don't ship my puppies, I
usually will recommend to them to call their local animal rescue shelter first. Now, I don't know why anyone would want to give up theirs, but the truth is that because
many pet owners jump in head first to buying one, they don't realize what they are getting themselves into. In other words, these dogs are very hyper and need a lot
of attention.
Sometimes, the demand is too great on new Puggle owners and unfortunately, the dogs gets placed in an animal shelter or given away. And,
whatever you do, do not purchase a dog from a puppy mill. This is a big no no! Even though you think you may be saving that puppy from being in a dog farm
environment, it just encourages these dog farmers to continue breeding just for profit! Plus, I have purchased one from a puppy mill and the dog was messed up
emotionally and physically.
Puggles are very adorable and fun loving dogs. They are also in very popular demand. The problem with this is that people think
that they can just breed them for profit. However, without knowledge of how to breed and an understanding of each parent's background, the litter can end up
having genetic disorder and other serious illnesses when they get older. The best breeder that you can purchase one from is an in-home family breeder. In other
words, the breeder spends quality time and provides love to each puppy in the litter. This type of breeding is alright as long as they have a passion for adopting out
their baby Puggles to proud parents. Trust me; it can give you a very warm fuzzy feeling to see a smile on the face of a newly adopted parent!
