What to Look For In a Puggle Breeder
By Christy Taylor

Before you go and purchase a Puggle, you need to understand a few things about who you are purchasing from. There are many Puggle breeders that are in it just for the money. These are the types of breeders, such as puppy mills and dog farms, that don't care about the health and well-being of the pups.

The following are a few tips for you to follow when purchasing a Puggle:

Scan The Environment and Surroundings:
When you get to the place where you are purchasing your puppy, scan the environment. Do you notice anything that would cause harm to the puppy? Is it a clean area that the puppy has been living in? How many other animals are on the premises?

Analyze The Breeder's Personality:
What type of feel do you get from conversing with the breeder? Have they kept you updated on what has been going on with the life of the puppy that you wish to purchase? As a breeder, I always send emails each week informing my parents of what has been occurring in the first few weeks of my litter's lives. I send pictures each week as well. I know this excites my parents and I want to provide them with as much information about their adapted baby as I can.

Find Out What Type of Breeder They Are:
Does the breeder keep the litter inside the home? To me, this shows that they care about the Puggles. Find out if the breeder sales their litter to pet shops.

Get References and Background Information on the Breeder:
A breeder will have plenty of good references that he can provide you, if and only if, he is a reputable breeder. I have numbers from my past adoptive parents and I still check up on how their Puggles are doing. You may want to find out how much experience the breeder has.

Make Sure To Find Out Information About The Parents:
You will also want to make sure you find out information about the Puggle's parents. The parents should be a Beagle and a Pug. You might want to see AKC registration papers on the parents. Also, ask to see the parents and make sure that you get too!

Get A Guarantee From The Breeder:
Before you purchase a Puggle from a breeder, make sure that you get a health guarantee that is approved from a Veterinarian. A good breeder would offer this to you and also offer first shots and physical. You will want to get the health guarantee in writing and you will want to have the vet papers as well.

These are just a few tips that you should follow when considering purchasing a Puggle from a breeder. The most important factor in all of this is to make sure that you do not purchase your dog from a puppy mill or dog farm. Stay clear away from places like this. Also, if you can, check your local animal rescue to see if one is available for adoption. And, on a last note, good luck on your Puggle hunt!
